Mission Statement

Sho ‘Nuff is an online magazine created by the students of the Advanced Magazine and Feature Writing (JRNL 4470) class taught by Associate Professor Nan Fairley. As part of our senior journalism capstone project in the Auburn University School of Communication and Journalism, we are committed to telling the diverse stories of Alabama. Take a deep dive with us as we explore the communities, challenges and characters of Alabama. We hope to tell their stories with authenticity and integrity. Is there anything noteworthy happening in the South? Our stories would say: ‘Sho Nuff’.

Staff Directory

Devonte Booker

is a Floridian with a perspective that’s different from the usual Alabamian. He is an accomplished athlete with a love for reporting real-issue stories that dive deeper than what meets the eye.

Ava Bourbeau

is a senior in journalism and a minor in technical and professional writing. She hopes to work in book publishing after graduation.

Dalton Bright

is a senior in journalism and creative writing graduating in August 2022. He is also a barista at a local cafe. Outside of work and classes, he enjoys hiking, playing music, photography and watching retro horror films with friends.

Kayla Caldwell

is a senior in journalism with a minor in graphic and industrial design processes graduating in August 2022. She plans to work in the magazine field in design or editing and also holds interest in copywriting.

Chloe Cory

is a senior in journalism who has been involved on Auburn’s campus since day one. In the fall, she is going to the University of Tennessee to pursue a master’s degree in college student personnel to achieve her goals of working hands-on with students and families in a higher education setting.

Abbey Crank

is a senior in journalism, minoring in psychology. After graduation, she hopes to use her knowledge within the magazine industry and work her way up to editor in chief.

Jayne Duignan

is a senior in journalism and psychology. With her projected graduation being May 2022, she is looking to pursue a career in journalism.

Jake Gonzalez

found passion in storytelling largely by accident. The native of Hoover, Alabama, is a senior in journalism who has planned to go to law school since his sophomore year on The Plains and his plan stays relatively unchanged; however, his passion for sports brought him into the world of sports writing.

Carter Hall

is a graduating senior from Marietta, Georgia, studying for a degree in liberal arts with a focus on journalism.

Maggie Horton

is a Huntsville native majoring in journalism with a minor in political science. She is an aspiring travel writer and will graduate in December 2022.

Emery Lay

is a senior in journalism. She has worked with the Plainsman as a writer and editor, interned at the Opelika Observer and Live Lee Magazine, and worked part-time at the Opelika-Auburn News. She is set to graduate in May 2022 and plans to pursue a job in feature-writing at a big-city newspaper.

Abigail Murphy

is a senior in journalism with minors in history and women’s and gender studies. She also works for The Auburn Plainsman as the operations managing editor.

Tim Nail

is a senior in journalism. When not writing, he enjoys coffee shop crawling, photography and listening to newfound vinyl records.

Graci Pennington

is a senior in broadcast journalism. After graduation she will be relocating to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to pursue a job writing and composing advertisements for properties at Re/Max Paradise.

Peyton Ruud

is a journalism major graduating in August 2022. After graduation, she hopes to get into the entertainment side of the journalism world.

Laura Silvernail

is a double major in journalism and graphic design and a native to Huntsville, Alabama. After she graduates in December 2022, she plans to pursue a career in graphic design.

Sydney Wix

is a journalism student. She is from Birmingham, AL and works for the Glomerata, Auburn's yearbook.

Abigail Woods

is a senior in journalism. Alongside writing academically, Abigail serves as the culture editor for The Auburn Plainsman.
